Broad London targeting is usually a mistake

Competing for a generic London search means competing with firms spending more per month than most businesses spend in a year. For a small or mid-sized company that auction is not winnable on budget alone, and entering it produces expensive clicks that do not convert.

What does work is narrowing. Targeting a borough, a specific specialism, or a niche within your sector reduces competition dramatically while keeping the buyers who actually match what you do. Fewer clicks, far better conversion, and a cost per enquiry that makes sense.

The map pack question

If you have a London office, local search is genuinely valuable and worth prioritising. If you do not, we can compete in organic results but not in the map pack, and anyone offering to solve that with a virtual office address is proposing something that gets Google Business Profiles suspended.

Where the value usually sits

For most London businesses we look at, the biggest available gain is not ranking higher for the obvious term. It is capturing the longer, more specific searches their competitors ignore, where intent is clearer and competition is a fraction of the cost.
